You can caption any form of digital audio with Ava.
That includes people talking (not music), such as online videos (education courses, Facebook Live, YouTube), podcasts, radio, and even audio/video conference calls.
Option 1: connect your computer audio into Ava
You need to purchase adapters, with a total cost of less than $15:
Audio adapter (computer - smartphone). Plug one end to the device audio port, the other to your smartphone audio port with Ava, so Ava can hear the digital audio and caption it (see image and video below).
Important: be careful, the two ends of the adapter are different, make sure you are plugging the correct end in the smartphone and in the laptop respectively.
Audio splitter (optional), if you want to hear the audio too as it is captioned. You will then need to to plug your own headphones/headset to it.
Important: if captions do not work properly, the audio volume on source side may be weak. Make sure volume is up sufficiently, also make sure you have volume up also on smartphone/device side.
Option 2: use the speaker of your computer with Ava next to it.
This setup is not ideal, as the sound quality is not good enough to be captioned by Ava. You can expect between 20%-40% of accuracy only.
The most important thing is that your device is close to the source of the sound.
If you watch TV for example, put Ava next to your TV so that the microphone is really close to the sound. Then connect, if necessary, to another device that also has Ava installed, so you can read captions comfortably.
