Hey there, Mac users! ๐Ÿ‘‹ We've crafted a nifty solution to ensure you get top-notch live captions during your online meetings. Dive into the steps below to set up our specially designed virtual mic with your favorite meeting platforms or while watching a YouTube video.

๐Ÿค” Why the Need for a Virtual Mic?
Apple's got its quirks โ€“ it doesnโ€™t allow apps direct access to computer audio through standard API methods. To bridge this gap, we've set up a virtual mic feature exclusively for our Mac users. By selecting this virtual mic in your online meetings, you allow our app to capture and caption the audio accurately.


How to set up your Ava Mic in Ava Desktop

๐Ÿšจ Before you update your Ava Mic settings in any video meeting tool, you first need to update your Ava Mic settings in Ava . ๐Ÿšจ

  1. In full-screen mode, start a conversation

  2. Tap the Microphone settings ๐ŸŽค in the left-hand menu

  3. Choose "Ava Mic"


How to set up your Ava Mic for Zoom

  1. Start your Zoom meeting

  2. Tap the Microphone icon ๐ŸŽค at the bottom-left

  3. Under 'Select a Speaker', choose "Ava Speakers" (our Virtual Mic)

Note: if you don't see the "Ava Speakers" setting, make sure you have a conversation in Ava Cstarted


How to set up your Ava Mic for Google Meet

  1. Kick off your Google Meet session.

  2. Click the three dots โš™๏ธ on the bottom-right (typically before the red button to end call)

  3. Navigate to Settings

  4. On the left-hand side menu, make sure you're in Audio settings

  5. Under 'Speakers', pick "Ava Speakers" (our Virtual Mic)

Note: if you don't see the "Ava Speakers" setting, make sure you have a conversation in Ava started


How to set up your Ava Mic for Microsoft Teams

  1. Begin your Teams chat

  2. Hit the three dots ๐Ÿ”ผ up top on the right

  3. Dive into Settings

  4. Click Device Settings (Device Settings)

  5. Look for 'Speaker' and go with "Ava Computer Audio" (our Virtual Mic)

Note: if you don't see the "Ava Speakers" setting, make sure you have a conversation in Ava started


How to set up your Ava Mic for Mac's System Audio

To caption things like YouTube videos

  1. Click on the Apple logo ๐ŸŽ in the top-left corner of your screen

  2. Go to System Settings > Sound

  3. Click on the Output tab

  4. From the list, select Ava Computer Audio (our Virtual Mic). Now, any sound your Mac makes will be sent through our virtual mic for captioning!

Note: if you don't see the "Ava Speakers" setting, make sure you have a conversation in Ava started

To get those perfect captions, always make sure your meeting's sound is heading straight to our virtual mic.
