See who says what in the conversation!

Updated this week

To learn about SpeakerID on 📱 Mobile, click here.

What is SpeakerID?

SpeakerID is a powerful new feature designed to enhance your live captioning experience by distinguishing between speakers during a conversation or meeting. This feature automatically assigns different colors to each speaker, making it easier to follow along. Additionally, you can label each speaker with their name, providing a more personalized and organized experience.

For the first time, you will be able to automatically identify all the speakers in the conversation and display what they say in a different color! No need to invite them with another device to do a group conversation anymore.

Speaker Limit: SpeakerID supports up to 5 speakers at a time and performs best with clear audio input. If you have more than 5 speakers, consider using Ava Connect or Group Conversations for more advanced speaker identification.

SpeakerID is a Premium-only feature.

How to Enable SpeakerID on 🖥️ Desktop & 🌐 Web

🚧 SpeakerID is currently in Beta and you must be given access to see it in your Ava Conversation. For questions, please email us at support@ava.me

  1. Start a conversation on either Web or your Desktop app

  2. Click the three dots and then click on ⚙️ Settings

  3. Find the Speaker ID toggle and turn it on by seeing blue

Note for 🖥️ Desktop Users: for SpeakerID to work, you can only have one microphone selected

How to Assign Speaker Names

During a conversation, you will see each speaker labeled by a number, but you can customize each name.

  1. Click on the speaker's label (e.g. "Speaker 1")

  2. A text box will appear where you can type the name of the speaker or tap the It's Me button to claim the speaker as yourself

  3. Tap the Save button or hit ↩️ Enter to return to the conversation

Enter the Amount of Speakers

  1. A pop-up bar will show when 3 or more speakers are detected. It's helpful to enter the exact number of speakers to improve the SpeakerID

  2. Enter the number of speakers

  3. Tap Okay to exit the pop-up

Thank you and happy captioning 🎉!
